Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Optometrist to join a dynamic team in London. As an Optometrist, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosing visual problems, and prescribing corrective lenses or other treatments as needed. This position is full-time but open to part-time arrangements for the right candidate, allowing for flexibility to accommodate your work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Comprehensive Eye Examinations: Perform thorough eye examinations, including refraction, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, tonometry, and funduscopy, to assess visual acuity and identify potential eye conditions.

  2. Prescription and Treatment: Diagnose vision problems and prescribe appropriate corrective lenses, contact lenses, or therapeutic treatments as required.

  3. Patient Consultations: Provide detailed explanations of eye conditions, test results, and treatment options to patients, addressing their questions and concerns.

  4. Contact Lens Fitting: Conduct contact lens assessments, fittings, and follow-up appointments, ensuring proper lens selection and patient comfort.

  5. Disease Detection: Identify and manage eye diseases and conditions, referring patients to specialists when necessary.

  6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including examination notes and treatment plans.

  7. Quality Assurance: Uphold high standards of clinical excellence, following all relevant industry regulations and best practices.

  8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as Dispensing Opticians and Ophthalmologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.

  9. Continuing Education: Pursue ongoing professional development and training to stay current with the latest optometric advancements and practices.


  • Qualified Optometrist: Must hold a valid optometry degree and be registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).

  • Clinical Expertise: Strong clinical skills and the ability to perform comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose eye conditions.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues.

  • Problem-Solving: Analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex eye-related issues.

  • Flexibility: Open to both full-time and part-time work arrangements.
